This troubleshooting guide covers common Dolphin cleaner problems that can prevent the machine from working properly. These tips may help you solve the problem without contacting an authorized Maytronics service center.

Not Running a Full Cycle

Dolphin pool cleaners are some of the most reliable and durable robotic units on the market. But like all machines, they can occasionally encounter issues that prevent them from doing their jobs properly. The good news is, most of the time these problems are minor and easily solved with a bit of troubleshooting.

One of the most common problems is when a Dolphin robot simply won’t run a full cycle. This can be a frustrating problem because it prevents your Dolphin from cleaning the entire pool. This issue can be caused by several different things.

First, check the filter basket to make sure it’s not overflowing. If the basket is full, it will stop working. You can also try adjusting the height of your Dolphin unit to see if this fixes the problem. Lastly, you can also clean the movement tracks to make sure they’re clear of any debris or dirt that could be preventing the Dolphin from moving smoothly.

Stuck in One Part of the Pool

When a dolphin gets stuck in one spot and refuses to move or climb the walls it could be a number of problems. First check the cord to make sure that it has not become tangled around motor, tracks or wheels. If the cord is ok you should try to examine the track or treads of the cleaner to see if they are worn and damaged which would prevent the robot from moving.

Sometimes a Dolphin can become hung up by the pool chemical balance or by the air in the cleaner. If this is the case shake the cleaner or turn it upside down to release the trapped air.

Lastly, if the Dolphin is unable to climb the walls check that the Rain Drain Flap is not missing or stuck - this creates a seal and allows the dolphin to climb. You can also try brushing the walls manually to loosen a build up of sunscreens, lotions or body oils that may be preventing the dolphin from climbing.

Not Climbing Walls

Dolphin’s top-of-the-line pool cleaners can do a lot more than just move forward on flat surfaces. Their dual motors are designed to allow them to climb walls and scrub the pool’s most stubborn stains. While most of the time they do a great job, sometimes they can get stuck in one spot or another for a variety of reasons.

If your Dolphin is not climbing your walls, there are some easy troubleshooting steps to follow. First, make sure that the feed hose is long enough to reach from the wall connection to the farthest part of your pool. If not, consider adding a longer hose.

Then check the filter bag for any debris. It may be full and weighing down the cleaner so that it cannot climb. Empty the bag and clean it if necessary.

It is also possible that the pool’s walls are slippery due to algae growth. Brushing the pool walls and applying an algaecide should help prevent this issue.

Not Getting Dirty Water

Dolphin pool cleaners are some of the best on the market. They are known for being able to clean an Olympic sized pool with ease and have some of the most advanced scanning systems around. However, like any machine, it isn’t perfect and sometimes runs into problems that need to be fixed.

Luckily, most of the time it is a simple fix. Some common problems include not climbing walls, getting stuck, and releasing dirty water from the bottom.

If the cleaner isn’t climbing the walls it is probably due to a build up of sunscreens, lotions, or body oils. You can try brushing the walls manually to loosen it up. Alternatively, you could also add a UV filter to the pool that will prevent this from happening and keep the chemicals in balance.

If these tips don’t work, you may have a problem inside the main components and should contact a Maytronics service center for repair.
