How To Remove COM Surrogate

com surrogate  is a legitimate Windows process that runs in the background and helps to execute certain types of files, such as media files or other complex objects. However, sometimes it may cause high CPU usage, errors, or crashes on your system, and you may want to remove it. Here are some steps you can follow to remove COM Surrogate:

Identify the COM Surrogate process:

Open the Task Manager by right-clicking on the taskbar and selecting "Task Manager." Look for any process called "dllhost.exe" or "COM Surrogate" in the list of running processes.

Check if the COM Surrogate process is causing any issues:

If you notice high CPU usage, crashes or other errors associated with the COM Surrogate process, you can try to fix them first by updating your drivers, running a virus scan, or disabling any recently installed third-party software.

Disable the COM Surrogate process:

If you still want to remove COM Surrogate, you can disable it by following these steps:

Press Windows + R keys to open the Run dialog box.

Type "regedit" and press Enter to open the Registry Editor.

Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer

Right-click on the "Explorer" folder, select New, and then click on DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Name the new value "DisallowLegacySurrogateExecution" (without quotes).

Double-click on the new value and set its value data to 1.

Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

Restore COM Surrogate:

If you ever want to restore the COM Surrogate process, you can simply go back to the Registry Editor, navigate to the "Explorer" folder, and delete the "DisallowLegacySurrogateExecution" value that you created earlier.
